Clare Johnston Lecture

Reading Tracey Emin : Fantasies of adventure,
escape and return

Gender, Identity, the body, class , otherness, motion

Why I never became a dancer - 1995, 13 left school, slept with lot of guys wanted to be a dancer, got booed and jeered off the stage.

Context + argument has to be done in critical review

film is shot on super8 film

Challenging the art establishment earlier in Emins career

-Tracey Emin + Sarah lucas at the shop, bethnal green road, london 1993, "Gone to morocco with hilton" basically taking the mick out of the art industry.

Tracey emin - my bed - art photography

She talks through the film but in the last fragment which is ironic as she has been exposed to a range of men from an early age of 13. The dance scene towards the end is the first time you see her in the film, 90% is done by narrative speaking. The dance almost celebrates what she wants to do in life and plus her light at the end of the tunnel, She wanted to dance and her audience is toward you personally.

The word slag was used into the dance competition , at her from people she has been sleeping with.

without knowing information backed up it will be impossible to know what you are talking about the critical review you need to
